“One of the servants said to Saul, “One of Jesse’s sons from Bethlehem is a talented harp player. Not only that—he is a brave warrior, a man of war, and has good judgment. He is also a fine-looking young man, and the LORD is with him.””
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The anointing of God will change your biography from the least to the greatest.

Samuel was looking for the person God had chosen to anoint as the future king of Israel in the house of Jesse.

Samuel passed over all seven sons of Jesse who were presented before him. When Samuel asked if there was another son, Jesse mentioned David, who was in the fields tending the sheep.

Samuel asked for David to be brought before him and anointed him as the future king of Israel. The Bible says that the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day forward.

While David was waiting for his appointed time to become king, he was recommended to Saul by one of his servants to ease the unrest caused by a tormenting spirit.

David’s biography, as presented to Saul, was no longer merely that of someone watching sheep in the fields, but of a talented harp player, a brave warrior, a man of war, someone with good judgment, and a fine-looking young man.

Jesse introduced David by what he was doing, but Saul’s servant introduced David by what he was capable of doing. And above all, the servant testified that the Lord was with him.

There is an important distinction here: David’s value did not change when people began recognizing him. Their understanding of David changed. God had already seen what others had overlooked.

David was recruited by Saul to be his armor-bearer and eventually became the king of Israel.

This word brings great encouragement that God’s anointing upon our lives can bring forth what others have overlooked in us.

To some, we could be the least. Our education, occupation, or position in life could be considered the least. What we do and how we do it may seem insignificant in the eyes of others. But in the right season, God will rewrite your biography.

From the least, He can lift you to greater heights. Your gifts, talents, and calling that were hidden in your humble circumstances will be brought forth before princes and kings in His appointed season, to honor His name.

God sees the heart, and He honors the humble in a way that history remembers the greatness of God.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for seeing what others overlook in us. Help us to remain humble and faithful even when we are considered the least. Let Your anointing bring forth the gifts and calling You have placed within us in Your appointed season. May our lives become a testimony of Your greatness and glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
