“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Psalm 46:1 ESV

If you think you are the only one going through the trouble you are in, remember David. His life reminds us that troubles can be many, but none of them are greater than the God we run to.

David repeatedly spoke of God as his refuge and strength. He was perhaps one of the most fitting people to speak about God this way because he knew what it meant to be betrayed by his own people. He knew shame. He knew sin and the consequences of sin. He knew what it felt like to run for his life. He knew what it was to lose everything.

Yet, in all these things, David also knew what the mercy of God could do. He knew what it meant to run to God for refuge, to be strengthened by Him, and to receive help from Him.

David’s troubles were many, but none of them were greater than the God he ran to.

I want to encourage you today that the refuge is still available, and help is readily available when you call upon the Almighty God.

Your situation is not a surprise to God. He knows exactly what you are going through. He knows your pain, your fear, your loss, and your need.

So instead of remaining in the trouble, run into the Refuge. Be strengthened by Him and receive His help.

The same God who became David’s refuge is still our refuge today. Trouble may surround you, but you do not have to face it alone. There is a place to run, and that place is God.

Prayer:
Almighty God, thank You for being my refuge and strength. When trouble surrounds me, help me not to remain overwhelmed by it, but to run to You. Strengthen me when I am weak, help me when I feel helpless, and remind me that nothing I face is greater than You. Let me always find my safety, strength, and peace in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
