“Rejoice always, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16, 18 (ESV)

Rejoicing is a godly expression, and God commands us to rejoice always. Not only when we have money, not only when we have a perfect family, not only when we have a high-paying job, and not only when we enjoy perfect health—but even when all these fail, still rejoice, because the Bible says this is the will of God.

Our hearts rejoice when we know our God, and we come to know who He is as we continually communicate with Him without ceasing. The more we know Him, the more our hearts are filled with gratitude and thanksgiving. A heart that remains in fellowship with God will always find a reason to rejoice, regardless of the circumstances.

God called David a man after His own heart because David made every effort to remain in the joy of the Lord. He rejoiced in the presence of God through every season and never failed to seek the Lord in everything. Whether in the wilderness, in the palace, in victory, or in sorrow, David continually turned his heart toward God.

God delights to see a joyful spirit within us. Therefore, rejoice even when everything seems to go against your way. Rejoice even when situations look impossible. Rejoice because our God reigns. Rejoice knowing that He is for you and not against you. When your joy is rooted in Christ and not in changing circumstances, your thanksgiving becomes a testimony that your confidence is in the Lord alone.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching us to rejoice always and to give thanks in every circumstance. Let the joy of the Lord be our strength through every season of life. Teach us to seek You in all things, just as David did, and let our lives reflect unwavering faith and thanksgiving. May our joyful spirit glorify You and become a testimony to those around us. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
