“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
— Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)

Weariness is not a sin; it is a human struggle.

Everyone goes through seasons of weariness and burnout, including some of the most devoted men and women of God in the Bible. Scripture does not conceal these moments of weakness. Rather, it is honest about fatigue, exhaustion, discouragement, and even the temptation to walk away.

The Bible reveals how God comforts people who feel as though their lives are falling apart.

Job experienced deep grief, loss, and suffering to the point that he cursed the day of his birth (Job 3:1–11).

Elijah became exhausted from ministry, fear, and threats against his life. In his burnout, he asked God to take his life (1 Kings 19:4).

David grew weary from years of running, hiding, and fleeing from his enemies. His tears and groaning reflected the heaviness he carried in his heart (Psalm 6:6).

Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, became so weary of constant rejection that he decided he would no longer speak about God. Yet the fire of God’s Word within him would not allow him to remain silent (Jeremiah 20:9).

If these mighty servants of God experienced weariness, we should not be surprised when we face similar seasons in our own lives.

In every one of these situations, God did not condemn them for their weariness or abandon them in their weakness. Instead, He reached out to them with love, compassion, and comfort. He gave them rest, reassured them of His promises, revealed His sovereignty, and strengthened them to finish the race set before them.

When you go through a season where everything seems to be falling apart, be reminded of who holds your future. Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of your faith, is fully aware of your struggles. He knows every burden you carry and every battle you fight in secret. Nothing about your situation has taken Him by surprise.

The Word of God assures us that we will not be tested beyond what we are able to bear. The same God who allows the trial also provides the grace to endure it and the way through it.

Those who trust in the Lord will never be put to shame. Your weariness will not end in failure. Your exhaustion is not the end of your story. In God’s perfect time, He will renew your strength. You will rise up on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint, and your life will bring glory to His name.

The season of weariness is temporary, but the strength God provides is sufficient for every step of the journey.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my strength when I am weak and my comfort when I am weary. In moments of exhaustion, help me to rest in Help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and to finish the race You have set before me. May Your grace sustain me and Your peace guard my heart each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
