“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””
Acts 1:8 ESV
These are the words of Jesus before He ascended into heaven. God has always desired for us to walk in the authority He has given us, but sin rendered us powerless and separated us from His purpose. Thank God for Jesus Christ, who restored our identity and authority. Not only did He revive our purpose, but He also assured us of the gift of the eternal Holy Spirit.
The Bible says that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us and that we will be God’s witnesses to the ends of the earth. The Holy Spirit is often misunderstood as fire, wind, air, or water. While God may use these elements to manifest His power, the Bible reveals that the Holy Spirit is a Person—an essential Person of the Trinity.
God uses His creation to display His power, but the Holy Spirit should never be identified as one of His creations. The Holy Spirit is God Himself, the very essence and presence of God among us. Having fellowship with the Holy Spirit is the greatest fellowship we can have. He is given to us as a Helper, a Comforter, a Counselor, and a faithful Partner to guide us through this life.
We are never alone when we walk with the Holy Spirit. We are never without direction when He leads us. We are never helpless when He stands beside us. The Holy Spirit strengthens us in weakness, comforts us in sorrow, and gives us wisdom when we do not know what to do.
Where the Spirit of God is, there is the power of God. Where the power of God is, there is a witness for God. No place can remain spiritually dead when the Holy Spirit moves. Even before the creation of the world, the Bible says that the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. The same Spirit who was present at creation has been given to us by Jesus Christ to help us, empower us, and make us effective witnesses for His kingdom.
As we cultivate fellowship with the Holy Spirit, He will fill us with power, strength, and wisdom. He will guide our steps, guard our hearts, and reveal the will of God for our lives. As we make the Holy Spirit our daily companion, many will see and experience the power of God through our lives, and our testimony will point others to Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for restoring our identity, authority, and purpose through Jesus Christ. Help us to walk in close fellowship with Your Spirit every day. Fill us with Your power, wisdom, and boldness to be faithful witnesses for Your kingdom. Lead us, comfort us, and strengthen us in every season of life. May our lives reflect Your presence and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
