“For he who touches you touches the apple of his eye.”
— Zechariah 2:8 (ESV)

To the Almighty Father, we are His special possession, a treasure, and His very own. We are cared for with such utmost love and attention that even the purest form of love and care found in this world cannot compare to the love of our Father through Jesus Christ.

Through Jesus Christ, we have been brought into God’s covenant love. As we come into agreement with His covenant and walk with Him, we naturally come under His care, protection, and guidance. Anything we go through in this world while under God’s care must first pass through Him.

This is one of His precious promises to His people: whoever touches us is touching the apple of the Father’s eye. God allowed His people to be plundered and taken captive because of their sin and faithlessness. In what seemed to be a devastating and hopeless situation, the Word of God came to them with His glory and the assurance that they were still the apple of His eye.

This word brings great encouragement, reminding us that God responds swiftly and effectively when anyone or anything intends to do us harm. Though God may allow trials, hardships, and seasons of testing for His divine purpose, He never abandons His people. His eyes remain upon them, and His hand continues to guide them.

To the plunderers, captors, and oppressors, we may appear forsaken, abandoned, and forgotten. But to God Almighty, we are the apple of His eye. We do not face anything in this life alone. We are backed by the Kingdom of God and helped by the mighty hand of God.

Therefore, remain at peace and do not be afraid. Nothing can touch your life apart from God’s sovereign permission and purpose. The God who calls you the apple of His eye is watching over you, fighting for you, and working all things together for your good. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Stand firm in His love, trust in His faithfulness, and rest in the assurance that you are precious in His sight.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us as Your treasured possession and for keeping us as the apple of Your eye. Help us to trust You in every season, whether in times of joy or times of trial. Fill our hearts with peace and confidence, knowing that You are our Defender, Protector, and Deliverer. Strengthen our faith to rest in Your promises and to walk securely in Your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
