“For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭27‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The safest and best place to take shelter in times of trouble is in the presence of God.

The Bible says that God Himself will hide us in the day of trouble. He will cover us in His tent and lift us up in due time. As Psalm 27:5 declares, He keeps His people safe in His dwelling and sets them high upon a rock.

Prophet Elijah shared a word from God to King Ahab that there would be a drought in the land of Israel. King Ahab and Queen Jezebel grew furious and sought to hunt him down and kill him. But the Lord commanded Elijah to hide in the remote ravine of the Brook Cherith.

Moreover, God kept him hidden from the king while ravens brought him food daily. God displayed signs and wonders through the prophet Elijah, and he was regarded as one of the greatest prophets of his time.

Elijah was guarded, protected, sheltered, and provided for in a season of trouble under the covering of the Almighty. God’s protection did not mean the absence of hardship or danger, but it meant that the Lord’s presence, guidance, and provision sustained him through it all.

The word of encouragement today is this: the Lord will never allow trouble to devour you. He is your refuge, your fortress, and your stronghold in times of need. He will show you a way of escape, lead you into His shelter, and cover you under His wings. Even when challenges arise, His presence will go before you, sustain you, and carry you through.

In due time, He will lift you up for His glory and reveal His glory through you. Therefore, do not be afraid of the trouble around you. Take refuge in the Lord, trust in His unfailing care, and rest in the assurance that you are safely held in His mighty hands.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being our refuge, fortress, and shelter in every season of life. When trouble surrounds us, help us to rest in Your presence and trust in Your protection. Lead us, guide us, and provide for ha .Cover us under Your wings, strengthen our faith, and help us walk in confidence, knowing that You are with us. May Your glory be revealed in and through our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
