The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The physical appearances these days can reflect financial status, social status, and success, while hiding the reality of our lives from others. What people see may not be the real us, and at times we can present ourselves differently from who we truly are. We are often judged or appreciated by our outward appearance, but it is the Lord who examines and determines the condition of our hearts.

When Samuel was looking for a future king, David’s own father brought all of his other sons before him except David. To his father, this shepherd son did not seem fit to be a king. David’s appearance, stature, education, and experience did not match the qualifications of a king in the eyes of his father.

What mattered most to David’s father did not matter to the Lord. God saw David as a humble shepherd, a worshipper, a faithful leader, and a man after His own heart. David’s father saw every other son as king material except David, but God rejected all the others and chose David.

This is so encouraging to know that we have a God in heaven who sees our hearts and does not judge the way people do. Our Lord and Savior is not influenced by human opinions, titles, achievements, or circumstances. He judges from the inside out.

No one can hide from His eyes. No one can pretend to be good or fake their character before Him. The Bible says that He knows our thoughts and the intentions behind them. The perfect image we present on the outside cannot deceive God when He sees who we truly are within.

You are rewarded for the work done in your heart. You are honored for your pure intentions. You are blessed for your gratitude, humility, faithfulness, and obedience before God. Instead of merely appearing to meet God’s standards, we are called to be transformed from the inside out so that our hearts align with His will and reflect His nature.

Your heart work will be rewarded, and wicked works will be punished. Therefore, guard your heart diligently and allow the Lord to shape it according to His purpose.

Raise your standard, not for the approval of people, but to honor God and become the person He has called you to be. Let your life reflect the character of Christ so that everything you do brings glory to His name.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for looking beyond our outward appearance and seeing our hearts. Search us and reveal anything within us that does not please You. Create in us clean hearts and renew a right spirit within us. Help us to walk in humility, obedience, and faithfulness before You. Transform us from the inside out so that our lives may honor You and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
