“if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV

All our desire is for God to hear our prayers, yet at times we wonder why our prayers seem unanswered. The Bible lays out a way that draws God’s attention toward the prayers of His people.
God desires to hear our prayers, but He also calls us to approach Him with a heart that is pleasing before Him. Humility, repentance, prayer, and seeking His presence are keys that open the door for deeper fellowship with God.
Jesus is the perfect example of how to seek the Father. Though He was the Son of God, He humbled Himself, prayed continually, and remained obedient to the will of the Father. His life teaches us that prayer is not merely asking for things, but surrendering our hearts before God.
God opposes pride and wickedness, yet in His great mercy He lovingly gives people another chance to return to Him. When we humble ourselves and turn away from sin, He welcomes us with forgiveness and grace. God’s forgiveness always carries restoration within it. Before healing comes, there is cleansing. Before restoration comes repentance.
The Lord is not looking for perfect people, but for hearts that are willing to bow before Him sincerely. A humble prayer offered with repentance and faith reaches the heart of God. When we seek Him wholeheartedly, heaven responds.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, teach us to come before You with humble and sincere hearts. Forgive us for our pride, disobedience, and every wicked way. Help us to seek Your face daily and to walk in repentance and obedience. Cleanse us, restore us, and heal every broken area of our lives. May our prayers be pleasing in Your sight and draw us closer to Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
