“Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob shall no more be ashamed, no more shall his face grow pale.”
Isaiah 29:22 ESV
Abraham was chosen by God from among mankind to bear witness for Him. Through Abraham came Isaac, and through Isaac came Jacob, whom God later named Israel and established as His own people.
Between the days of Abraham and Jacob, many years had passed—more than four hundred years. Yet the promise God gave to Abraham never disappeared, was never forgotten, and never failed to be fulfilled. It was carried from one generation to another. Even when the people sinned, backslid, turned away, and rejected their God, His promise still stood firm and tall for the whole world to see.
The wickedness of people grieved God, but the love He has for His people never changed. His love remains everlasting.
The presence of God is the confidence we have, the love of God is the assurance we hold onto, and Jesus Christ is the hope we live by. The enemy may try everything possible to distance us from the presence of God and keep us bound in shame, fear, and depression.
But the good news is that the promise of God still stands true. The enemy cannot put you to shame because of the lifestyle you once lived, your past sins, or even your backsliding. God’s grace is not an approval of sin, but an invitation to repentance, restoration, and a renewed relationship with Him.
The love of the Father is greater than every excuse you tell yourself to stay away from Him. He comes to you with an outstretched arm, wiping away your tears and lifting your spirit to heal, deliver, and make you His own. He will lift your countenance from sorrow into glory.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your everlasting love and unfailing promises. Heal our hearts, restore our spirits, and teach us to walk in repentance and obedience before You. Lift our countenance and let Your glory shine upon our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
