“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Everyone loves to be recognized. Rewards are something all of us look forward to for the efforts we put in. We feel disappointed when we are not noticed for what we have done, or when someone else takes credit for our hard work and receives the reward and recognition.

Although it may seem unfair, the rewards that the world offers are temporary and last only for a short while. Human recognition fades quickly when someone else outperforms us, and there will always be someone who may do a better job than we can.

The only place where your deeds and works are recorded and remembered forever is in the Kingdom of God. The mind of Christ holds every detail—when, where, how, and to whom you helped, served, encouraged, lifted, and restored. Nothing done for God is ever wasted or forgotten in His sight.

The reward God gives is not only reserved for heaven, but it is also seen on earth in His appointed time. God honors faithfulness. Your children may taste the fruit of your obedience, and your generation may receive the inheritance and blessings that come from the Lord.

Therefore, the Bible teaches us to do everything for God and not for men. People may forget the help you gave them in their time of need. Some may become ungrateful for the good you have done, and others may even turn against you despite your kindness toward them. But be encouraged and continue to do good for God’s sake and not for the approval of people.

There is never disappointment when your focus is on God and not on men. Continue to serve, continue to give, and continue to work wholeheartedly for the Lord and not to please people. Your reward from God shall be great, and His faithfulness toward you will never fail.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to serve with sincere hearts and to do every good work as unto You. Strengthen us when we feel overlooked or unappreciated, and remind us that You see every sacrifice, every act of kindness, and every labor done in love. May our lives bring glory to Your name, and may we remain steadfast in serving You wholeheartedly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
