“and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭32‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Truth resurrects itself. No one can contain it, and no one can hold it captive. Lies may survive for a season, but truth always rises again.

As long as the truth remains hidden, the enemy has the upper hand over the ignorant. The lie and the liar are falsely convinced that they rule and reign over those who are deceived. But no lie can live forever. In due time, truth reveals itself.

We have heard stories in the news where police uncover a murder and arrest the murderer many years after the incident. No matter how deeply something is buried, truth eventually comes to light. It is impossible for truth to remain covered forever.

The Bible encourages us to abide in His Word so that we may know the truth, and the truth will liberate us. The Word of God exposes every lie that keeps people in bondage.

For a person who has gravely sinned, the lie says he or she is guilty forever. But the truth says our sins are washed white as snow through Christ.

For someone who is lonely, the lie says he or she is forgotten. But the truth says God has engraved your name in the palms of His hands.

For someone who is in lack, the lie says he or she will die in poverty. But the truth says God is able to raise us from the ashes, bless us, and increase us.

For someone living in fear, the lie says there is no hope. But the truth says God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

There are many examples we can consider in our lives. The Word of God is the truth, and everything else spoken, shared, or revealed by human understanding must be weighed carefully.

The Word of God is breathed by the Spirit of God. It carries life, power, authority, correction, and freedom. Human words spoken through flesh and human intention are limited, but the Word of God stands eternal.

In this world, there will always be people who try to have authority over us or take control over us. Captivity begins when we believe the lies that are meant to keep us in slavery. Fear becomes slavery. Shame becomes slavery. Sin becomes slavery. But truth brings freedom.

Anything against the Word of God leads to bondage. That is why it is important to know the truth through His Word so we may walk in freedom and liberty.

Christ died for us, gave up His Spirit for us, and resurrected for us to reveal that He is the way, the truth, and the life. His death and resurrection are the greatest evidence that truth can never be buried.

Know the truth for yourself. Stand on the truth for yourself. Abide in the truth for yourself. Do not allow the lies of people or the lies of the enemy to keep you captive. The truth of God was meant to liberate you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your truth that brings freedom, healing, and life. Open our spiritual eyes to recognize what is false and strengthen our hearts to stand firmly on Your promises. Fill us with wisdom, discernment, courage, and faith to walk in the liberty You have given us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
