“pray without ceasing,”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Daniel, brought as a slave into a foreign land, never let go of his custom of praying three times a day, kneeling, bowing down, and praising God. He faced many challenges after being taken into a foreign land. When temptation came to adjust to the new place, new culture, and new way of worship, Daniel overcame it all through prayer.

Daniel communicated with God every day and at all times. He was instructed and guided by God through his constant connection with the Almighty. In all that Daniel did, God’s favor was with him and led him into a victorious life. No one could ever find fault in Daniel. His growth and progress only earned jealousy among his peers and colleagues.

Since they could not find fault in Daniel, they targeted his source of strength — prayer. Daniel was adamant about not giving up prayer, nor worshiping any god other than Yahweh. Daniel valued his relationship with God more than his own safety. The very thing he remained steadfast in was what they used to trap him and bring him to a death sentence.

Even after hearing about the decree that was purposely made against him, Daniel refused to worship the idol and continued to worship the God of Israel.

Daniel was accused and thrown into the den of lions, just as the decree demanded, for refusing to worship the king.

Yet despite the danger before him, Daniel did not seem to argue, fight, or resist the decree or the people. Rather, he remained connected to God. Daniel was so confident that God would never give him into the mouths of the beasts or into the hands of the enemy. This reveals the peace and confidence that comes from trusting God completely. Daniel came out victorious and alive, and the king who witnessed Daniel’s rescue acknowledged the God of Daniel.

I do not think Daniel could have handled this situation any other way than through prayer.

Daniel teaches a powerful lesson: in every circumstance, pray.

Prayer is a weapon. It paves the path to peace, reveals the wisdom of God, and shows the way through His instructions. We cannot handle life any other way without prayer. The enemy will let us do anything but pray, and he will do everything to stop our worship.

When there is so much resistance to prayer, it is often a clear sign that we desperately need it. The enemy’s target is not your success, your wealth, or your fame, but your communication with God.

Prayer is your source for everything. You are revived in prayer, renewed in prayer, and healed through prayer. Prayer strengthens you to do all that God has called you to do according to His will. As it is written, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, teach us to remain steadfast in prayer like Daniel. Help us stay connected to You in every season, no matter the challenges, opposition, or distractions around us. Let prayer become our daily source of strength, peace, wisdom, and victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
