“So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.”
Romans 14:10 NLT
In the eyes of God, every single person is precious—created to be respected and honored. The Bible warns against despising or looking down on others who are also made in the image of God.
Both the one who looks down and the one who is looked down upon will one day stand before the judgment seat of God.
In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, Jesus describes a rich man who lived in luxury, status, wealth, and comfort, while a poor man lay at his gate longing for crumbs, his sores licked by dogs. In the end, both faced eternity before God. Each experienced eternal consequence reflecting the condition of their heart and life—Lazarus in Abraham’s bosom and the rich man in torment.
The one with position, influence, wealth, and outward beauty stood equally before the King of Kings alongside the least, the hungry, the wounded, and the forgotten.
We are shaping our eternal destiny by how we live in this temporary life. When we look down on others, we fail to remember that heaven sees all, and nothing is hidden before God. How we treat others will be revealed in the day of judgment.
No one holds greater importance than another before God.
The blessings, honor, wealth, and health God gives are not for pride or oppression, but to uplift, build, love, and show compassion. We are called to serve—not to humiliate, oppress, or take advantage of others.
Even the worldly blessings we boast about are temporary. In a moment, sickness can weaken us, accidents can change life instantly, loss can strip away security, and trauma can bring deep sorrow or depression. Only God remains constant.
God delights in blessing us, and He also calls us to walk responsibly with the grace He has given.
Treat others as you would want to be treated. Love others as you desire to be loved. Honor others as you wish to be honored.
Remember, we will all stand before God for judgment. Living in the embrace of Christ Jesus or being separated from Him is a choice we make. Choose wisely. Choose godly.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to see others the way You see them. Remove pride, judgment, and indifference from my heart. Teach me to love, honor, and serve others with humility and compassion. May my life reflect Your grace in every word and action. Keep me faithful until the day I stand before You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
