“I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭81‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Egypt is the place where the people were kept in slavery for many years. It is often seen as a place of suffering, pain, lack, and bondage—a place where the people of God were not meant to live.

God stepped into history with miraculous and marvelous signs and wonders to liberate them and put an end to their bondage.

God did not stop after bringing them out of slavery; He called them to rely on Him.

This passage reminds us that we are not left empty. In God, there is always fullness.

He fills our hearts with joy and our lives with peace. Whatever we ask in His name, He fills us with goodness.

God gives us an invitation to open our mouths—to ask and to seek Him. It is His good pleasure to remove the slavery and the effects of it, and it is His good pleasure to bless us with every good and perfect gift.

He will change a murmuring mouth into a joyful sound. Open your mouth wide to thank Him, to praise Him, to ask of Him, and to taste and see His goodness.

He will never leave you empty or in lack. He is the God who saw you in slavery, and He is the God who will carry you into His promise. Praise Him in the place of bondage, and praise Him in the place of promise, because He is a good God, and He is worthy.

Prayer:
Lord, You are the God who brings me out of bondage and fills me with Your fullness. Help me to open my mouth in faith—to ask, to seek, and to praise You. Remove every trace of lack and replace it with Your peace, joy, and goodness. Teach me to trust You in every season and to honor You with a grateful heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
