Nature is such a powerful force—flood is one example. There have been many incidents the world has recorded of the wrath of floods. We have seen villages washed away overnight. Lives, animals, and resources have been lost. Even the strongest swimmer can drown in a flood.

The Bible compares the destruction caused by the enemy to that of a flood. The bad news is that the enemy’s force can drain you emotionally, physically, and spiritually. You might feel like you are drowning in debt, dying in sickness, losing ground, losing your grip on life, losing everything that belongs to you, or even losing sight of your future.

But here is the turning point—the good news. In all circumstances, in these flood-like, overwhelming situations, the Spirit of the Lord raises a banner of victory against the enemy. The Spirit of God is a lifesaver in every situation. God will lift you up from all the attacks of the enemy. He not only liberates you from the wrath of the enemy, but also gives you victory over it.

When your life is aligned with God, you operate from the ground of victory rather than from the battleground. You operate from victory in your uncertainty. You operate from victory in your fear. You operate from victory in your struggle. You operate from victory even when everything around you seems to be sinking.

No flood will overwhelm you, because the Spirit of the Lord will turn every situation into a victorious one.

Lord, in every overwhelming flood of life, Lift me above every wave that rises against me, and anchor my heart in Your victory. Help me to trust that You are always near, turning every storm into a testimony of Your saving power. In Jesus Name. Amen.
