“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Romans 8:18 ESV

Suffering is inevitable to all mankind. In fact, it produces endurance, perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3–4).

Suffering is something none of us want to go through, but as we endure it, God works through it to reveal His glory. The suffering that Jesus Christ went through reveals the glory of the eternity that God has prepared for us.

In the Bible, we often see that when God’s glory is revealed, it is preceded by the suffering of someone, somewhere.

The Israelites’ suffering in bondage revealed God’s glory through a great promise and a promised land.

Job’s suffering of loss revealed God’s glory through the restoration of his life.

Hannah’s suffering of barrenness revealed God’s glory through the prophet Samuel.

Daniel’s suffering through accusations revealed God’s glory through deliverance.

David’s suffering under the threat to his life revealed God’s glory through an everlasting throne.

In your suffering—bondage, loss, sickness, barrenness, accusations, or threat—God will reveal His glory.

This glory will change the dynamics of your life. Your boundaries will be re-established. You will increase. You will be honored. It will be something you have never imagined.

Rejoice in your suffering, for God’s glory is within reach.

Prayer:

Lord, in my suffering, help me to trust You. Strengthen me to endure, and let Your glory be revealed in my life. Let every trial produce endurance, character, and hope in me. Establish me, increase me, and be glorified through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
