You Can Entertain Angels By Showing Hospitality

“Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!” Hebrews 13:2 NLT

When I was young, I grew up in an environment surrounded by sisters (nuns) and priests (fathers). I always saw them being so kind and very hospitable to everyone. They would rush to help. I saw them serving others in different needs, in different seasons, in different struggles. Hospitality was not just an act for them—it was a lifestyle.

After I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and began to know the Bible for myself, I learned that serving others is a gesture of displaying Jesus. When we serve, we reflect Him. When we care, we represent Him. And sometimes, without even realizing it, we may be entertaining angels.

Serving others alone will not take us to heaven. We need Jesus. We need to believe in Him. We need to accept Him as Lord and Savior to take us to heaven. But while living here on earth, as we serve others, we may encounter divine moments. We may encounter angels. We may encounter heavenly assignments disguised in ordinary situations.

The Bible identifies a few people who engaged with angels without knowing they were angels. One of them was Abraham. As he was sitting outside his tent, he looked up and saw three men. He ran to them. He greeted them. He urged them to stay so he could serve them food. Abraham offered the best meal within his capacity. He gave his best And He served with honor.

As they ate, one of the men delivered a promise—that Abraham and Sarah would have a son. Later, Genesis 19 reveals that two of the three men were angels. Abraham did not fully realize it at that moment.

This is a classic example that God gives us opportunities for divine encounters through simple acts of kindness. As you show hospitality, you are setting up an atmosphere for divine exchange. As you show kindness, you are creating room for heavenly encounters. As you show care and comfort to someone in need, you are impacting a life. You are planting seeds. You are creating a legacy that will be remembered.

Jesus Christ also showed us that we serve before we ever intend to lead. We serve before we expect recognition. We serve before we seek reward. Not only does heaven remember your deeds, but the world also remembers a generous, kind, and impactful person.

Be hospitable.Be kind.Be generous. For such acts please God.

Prayer

Father, help me to see every opportunity to serve as a divine assignment. Give me a heart that is hospitable, a spirit that is kind, and hands that are ready to help. Let my life reflect Jesus in every act of care, in every act of generosity, in every act of love. If there are angels around me, let me treat them with honor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
