“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”Isaiah 55:8–9 (ESV)

There are mysterious places in this world. The Bermuda Triangle, where ships and aircraft are said to disappear beyond a certain point. The Devil’s Kettle in Minnesota, USA — a waterfall where half the river plunges into a deep hole, and for years tests failed to determine where the water goes. Then there is Lake Hillier in Australia — a bright pink lake that retains its color year-round. Experts believe microorganisms are the reason, yet its vivid beauty still leaves room for wonder.
Based on scientific estimates, the vast majority of the earth remains unexplored and mysterious. More than 80% of the ocean is still unmapped, unobserved, and unexplored. The portion of the seafloor actually seen by humans is said to be roughly the size of the state of Rhode Island in the USA. Almost the entire deep ocean floor has never been directly observed by human eyes.
The wisest of the wise — archaeologists, meteorologists, geologists, oceanographers — are still uncovering the “why” and “why not” of this earth. Yet every discovery only reveals how little we truly know and how great our God truly is. Creation itself whispers the sovereignty of a mighty God.
The Word of God teaches us that His thoughts are not like ours. Our thoughts are often discouraged when things go wrong, confused when decisions must be made, fearful when we face uncertainty. But His thoughts are higher. His ways are beyond human comprehension.
The Creator of the universe — the One who understands the mysteries of the seas, the mountains, and the rivers — also understands the mysteries of your life. Your situation is not deeply confused before Him. Your trouble is not overwhelming to Him. Your hopelessness is not final before His wisdom.
He makes a way where there seems to be no way.
He opens doors that no one can shut.
He heals sickness that even specialists cannot heal.
He touches lives in unexpected ways.
The thoughts of the Almighty are bigger, brighter, and far greater than ours. He works through grief, trouble, pain, and suffering, and He turns all things for our good.
When things grow tough on your end, remember: the God of the universe is at your side — and He loves you.
Prayer:
Lord, Your thoughts are higher than mine, and Your ways are greater than I can understand. When I feel confused or discouraged, help me to trust in Your wisdom. Remind me that nothing in my life is a mystery to You. Lead me in Your higher ways and strengthen my heart to rest in Your sovereign love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
