“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
1 Peter 2:9 ESV

You are aware that many professions have a dress code, and when you see someone wearing it, you immediately know what profession they belong to. In the Bible also, God instructed Moses and designed a dress code for the priests who would enter the temple. A common man could not perform the tasks in the temple; there was a dedicated tribe appointed for this purpose.
The priestly garment is called the ephod, and every detail of the ephod was instructed by God Himself to Moses. The priests were to wear this ephod before they entered the presence of God, and they were seen as mediators between God and the people. Although only the tribe of Levi was appointed to perform priestly duties, you can see that David, from the tribe of Judah, also used the ephod to seek the presence of the Lord.
You see David wearing the ephod when the ark of the covenant was brought into Jerusalem. He was in the presence of God, singing and dancing along the way. Later, when David’s belongings were taken into captivity, including his family, the people around him mocked him and even wanted to kill him. You see a broken man, a grieving man, a man with no one to comfort him. Yet the Bible says David strengthened himself in the Lord. He wore the ephod, went into the presence of the Lord, sought the Lord, and God answered him.
This is your encouragement—you do not need a physical ephod that was designed for the priests. What was once external has now become spiritual.
Thank God for Jesus Christ, and thank God for the Holy Spirit. Through Jesus Christ, you can enter into the presence of God. Because of Him, the veil is no longer a barrier. Because of Him, access has been given. Because of Him, you can come boldly.
In every circumstance of your life, you have the privilege to seek the throne room of the Father through Jesus Christ. You are His own possession, His special possession. You are chosen. You are called. You are set apart. Therefore, nothing can separate you from the Father through Jesus Christ.
The Bible calls you a royal priesthood. You are a priest in the kingdom of God. You are a priest. And with Jesus Christ, your High Priest, who has gone before you, you now have the privilege to seek the Father—for your family, for your health, for your job, for every need, for every burden, for everything.
There is nothing you need to withhold from bringing before the Father. Nothing too small. Nothing too big. Nothing too broken.
So wear your ephod.
Wear the ephod of faith.
Wear the ephod of love.
Wear the ephod of hope.
Like David, seek the Lord—He will hear you, and He will answer you.
Wear your ephod at all times.
Wear your ephod in every season.
Wear your ephod in every circumstance.
You are chosen. You are a royal priesthood. You belong to Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. Thank You for choosing me and making me part of Your royal priesthood. Lord, I come before You with confidence through Jesus Christ. Teach me to seek You in every season, to trust You in every circumstance, and to walk boldly into Your presence. Help me to wear the ephod of faith, love, and hope daily. Strengthen me when I feel weak, remind me that I am never alone, and draw me closer to You. Hear my prayers, O Lord, and guide my life according to Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
