“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.”
Genesis 12:2 ESV

Many accounts of barrenness recorded in the Bible began with tears and shame, yet they ultimately ended in the glory of God.
Not only barrenness, but even when we are unable to meet the expectations of the world, we are often ridiculed and labeled.
But the wisdom of God works in a completely different way. He uses what people reject, He blesses what was once considered cursed—and the greatest proof is Jesus Christ Himself.
God could have chosen someone who already had many children, yet He chose barren Sarah, through whom Abraham received the promise.
In the same way, this pattern is seen again in the life of Rebekah. God could have chosen any other lineage to call His own people, yet He chose her in her waiting season, and through her came Esau and Jacob—leading to the twelve tribes of Israel.
Likewise, God could have chosen any other woman to bring forth a prophet, yet He chose Hannah, who in her emptiness gave birth to Samuel, a powerful prophet of God.
There are many other women who endured similar seasons of humiliation, rejection, and prolonged waiting. Their lives appeared dry, desperate, and impossible—until God intervened and revealed His power and purpose.
Not only these women, but even their families may have lost hope, as every possibility of blessing seemed distant and fading. Yet when every hope seems gone, every possibility closed, and every door shut, the glory of the Lord comes like a flood—to create history, to establish a legacy, and to leave a mark not just for that generation, but for generations to come.
We may not always understand why God allows such seasons in the first place. But the Bible reveals that our God is full of infinite wisdom, the source of all knowledge, and sovereign over everything. He has answers to every question, even when our minds are not able to comprehend them.
We must remain under the will of God to understand the plan of God.
Out of many disappointments, God will rewrite your story and your legacy. Every woman in the Bible who walked through barrenness was eventually called blessed. Out of her came nations and generations that shaped history.
This brings great encouragement: bring your barrenness before God—your life, your body, your purpose, and anything that is not producing fruit. God desires to use the very places that society has rejected and people have despised to display His power and glory.
Rejoice even in your waiting season, for God is preparing to do a mighty work in your life. Do not measure your life by what you see now—God is still at work.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we bring before You every area of emptiness in our lives—our struggles, our disappointments, and our unanswered prayers. We trust in Your wisdom and Your perfect timing. Teach us to wait on You with faith and hope, knowing that You are able to turn our dryness into abundance. Use our lives for Your glory, and let every barren place bring forth fruit in Your time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
