“I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 (ESV)

When I was first introduced to Jesus, I thought every situation in my life would immediately change for the better. But instead, things seemed to get worse before they got better. It was through enduring trials and tribulations that I began to see the fruit produced in the process.

So let us be careful not to give false expectations when we share the gospel. Even Jesus did not promise a life free from trouble. As long as we are in this world, we will face tribulations. But that does not mean there is no way out.

We have hope in the midst of it all because we have the One who has overcome the world with us.

The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ was tempted in every way, just as we are. He experienced emotional and physical pain like we do. Yet through His death and resurrection, He overcame the world—its sin, its curse, and its suffering.

At times, the promises of God may not feel convincing because of the intensity of the pain we go through. But even in that, there is an assurance—the peace of God.

You may not regain what you have lost—a loved one, a job, your health, or your finances. But the promise of Jesus remains: in Him, you will have peace. And this peace cannot be fully comprehended by the human mind.

With the peace of God, you can rest assured that even in the midst of everything, God is in control of your life.

Even if we live many years in this world, it is nothing compared to eternity with God. The Bible says our life here is like a breath—brief and passing. The moment we close our eyes on this side, we step into eternity. And it is the choices we make now—how we live and whom we follow—that determine where we will spend that eternity.

The tribulations we face with Jesus in this world cannot be compared to a life without Him beyond this world. The good news is that through Him, we overcome present trials and are secured for eternal life with Him.

Paul, one of the greatest apostles, endured countless hardships. He was mocked, beaten, imprisoned, and persecuted, yet he continued to preach the gospel. He was fully convinced that knowing Jesus was far greater than avoiding suffering.

When Paul pleaded with God to remove the thorn in his flesh, God did not take it away. Instead, He responded, “My grace is sufficient for you.” And truly, that grace is all we need to walk through this temporary life.

This is our encouragement—you too can overcome every trial through the grace of God, with Jesus by your side and the help of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise of peace in the midst of tribulation. Help us to trust You even when life is difficult and Your promises seem distant. Fill our hearts with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Strengthen us to endure, knowing that You have already overcome the world. Let Your grace sustain us each day as we walk with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
