“Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.”
— Psalm 51:11 (ESV)

The only thing that anyone should be truly concerned about in this world is losing the presence of God.
We naturally tend to be afraid of losing something or someone. But the Bible reveals that nothing is truly a loss except losing the presence of God.
The psalmist cries out not to be cast away from the presence of the Lord. After being confronted by the prophet Nathan, he expresses deep repentance instead of trying to cover himself under grace.
King David is a perfect example of what it means to live under the presence of God. He pleads for a clean heart, and the very next thing he asks is not to be cast away from God’s presence. We often see David as fearless and valiant, but what he understood deeply was that his strength came from the presence of God.
The presence of God carries fullness of joy, provision, protection, and perfect love. When we are surrounded by His presence, we truly lack nothing.
But when we lose the presence of God, we step out of that covering and miss the fullness of what He desires to give His children.
So be concerned about your soul—lest you lose the presence of God.
The Bible also records the life of Samson, a man with extraordinary strength from a young age, set apart by God for a special purpose to defeat the Philistines. The presence of God remained with Samson as long as he walked in obedience to what God had commanded.
Samson remained undefeated, and his fame spread across nations. But while enjoying the presence of God, he was deceived by a woman, and it cost him greatly.
When the presence of God departed from him, the once-respected Samson was mocked and ridiculed by his enemies, and he could do nothing about it. But when he cried out to God one last time, God’s presence returned to him, and he gained strength again—accomplishing even more in that final moment.
It was the presence of God that gave Samson his strength.
The Bible reveals a powerful truth: when God is with us, we do not truly lose anything. In His presence, every failure, loss, and setback can be turned for our good. But when we lose fellowship with Him and drift from His presence, we lose what truly matters.
So be watchful. Guard your heart. Desire and pursue the precious presence of God above everything else.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your presence in my life. Help me to value Your presence above everything else. Keep my heart pure and sensitive to You. Teach me to walk in obedience and never drift away from You. Let Your presence surround me, guide me, and strengthen me every day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
