“You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from Me. I, the Lord, have spoken!”
—Isaiah 54:17 NLT

What a powerful assurance God has given to His people. It is well known that the enemy brings different kinds of weapons in different seasons to attack, annihilate, and defeat us. One such weapon is the tongue. There is an old saying, “The tongue has no bones, yet it is strong enough to break a heart.”
Many times, we can move on when people mistreat us, but when they wound us with words, it goes much deeper. We live in a highly judgmental environment. Even when you give your very best, there will still be at least one voice ready to judge.
It is very sad to realize that parents, siblings, spouses, and even close friends can use words that wound deeply. Voices of slander, condemnation, and accusation can push a person into deep depression if left unchecked.
The Bible encourages us to leave these matters to God, with the promise that He Himself will silence every voice that rises against us to drain and discourage us. It is often impossible to know who spoke behind our backs, but God knows when it was spoken, what was spoken, who spoke it, and the intentions behind every word.
He heard voices you never heard. He saw people involved that you never saw. It is not your job to hunt down every ruthless voice or defend yourself against every accusation.
Scripture also assures us that vindication comes from the Lord Himself. Let Jesus Christ be your Savior. Walk in the ways of the Lord, stay aligned with His Word, and move forward with the help of the Holy Spirit. Leave the business of vengeance to God—you cannot even imagine how perfectly the Lord will handle it.
As a child of God, guard your peace at all times. Do not intervene or try to instruct God on how to deal with those who accuse you. He has already declared it: every accusing voice will be silenced.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I place every hurtful word and false accusation into Your hands. Silence every voice that rises against me and guard my heart with Your peace. Help me to trust Your justice and walk in alignment with Your Word. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
